My favorite belongings




Favorite belongings are dear to us and they often represents one of the biggest investments in our life. It much easier enjoying them if you don't have to bother about being targeted by burglars or thieves. By taking some simple precautions you can continue enjoying your favorite boat or motorcycle, click on the pictures below for security advices.

 

Car

  • When parking at home always use your garage if you have one. Always lock both your car and your garage. If you don't have a garage, always try to park in a well-lit, open place.

  • Mechanical and electronical locking devices and alarm are good deterrents.

  • Electronic engine immobiliser prevents your car from starting and is a good way of stoping thieves. It should be professionally fitted by an approved installer. 

  • Locking wheel nuts are cheap, easy to fit and stop thieves from taking your wheels.

  • Be careful with your car keys.

  • Security mark your car highly visible and the valuables in it, stereo, speakers etc.

  • "Empty the car yourself, otherwise the thief will!"
    Leaving stereos, mobile phones or even bags or coats, might tempt a thief.

  • Security cages used in car garage almost eliminates the risque of car thefts.


  • Use a steering wheel lock every time you leave your car.



Motorcycle

  • If you've got a garage use it and lock it with approved security solutions. If not, ground anchors are a good bet and cover your motorcycle if you can. If parking outside chose a well-lit and open place.
  • Mechanical and electronical locking devices are important deterrants.

  • Get a combined alarm and electronic immobiliser fitted professionally. Your insurance company may give you a discount on your premiums. 

     
  • Be careful with your keys.

  •  Put obvious security markings on as many parts of your bike as possible, using the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), the registration number or your postcode linked to a recognised database. 
  • Security cages used in car garage almost eliminates the risque of motorcycle theft. 


  • Get a good disc lock or better still, a U-lock - make sure it's long enough. 
     
  • Always put the steering lock on.
  • Don't leave your helmet or other possessions on the bike.

     

     

Boat

 

  • Padlocks and chains are good deterrents. Make sure the padlock accessories are securely attached to the boat and to the bridge. Also make sure that the motor is securely locked when left on board.

  • Alarms are good deterrents also for boats.

  • A Navigation system helps in searching for the boat, if stolen. Insurance companies often promotes this equipment by giving a discount on your premiums.

  • Empty the boat yourself. Never leave valuabels on board. 


  •  Mark your boat and the equipment. 

  •  When on land see to it so that the boat is locked with padlock and chain to the trailer and keep the boat in a securely locked storage.  

  •  When buying a boat check so that it's not stolen. 

  • Join the boat club, there's usually a patrol scheme for watching the boats.
